TOTAL Goes to Nashville
Ally and her TOTAL Leadership group traveled to Nashville today to visit the State Legislature and our Capitol Building. I was a little concerned about them riding on a school bus with the temperatures so low and more snow threats on they way. I had her backpack filled with lots of emergency goodies...a flashlight, hand warmers, battery backups for her phone, a blanket, snacks, bottled water, etc. Pretty much everything you could think of you "might" need!
They made it fine, of course! But, I have tried to teach the kids it is better to be prepared than not. She really enjoyed the trip, as she has enjoyed ALL of the TOTAL activities. If she heard once, she heard a million times, how "natural" she looked in this chair.

Ice turns to Flood
We have gone from a one week ice storm to a flash flood. This weather has been insane. I am going to be insane if we are all stuck in this house for much longer. Our back yard has had rushing water in it all day long.
Some of the "sites" around our house this week...
Judson LOVES his desserts!
Abby in front of the fire...either reading her book or on that phone...
This was a rare occurrence ... Abby and her Daddy sitting together.
Ally making a cake with her brother...the power went out just as we were putting it in the oven.
Oney taking crazy pictures of his Momma making me look as silly as possible.
Summer sunshiny days at the Lake...where are you?!?!
Good Morning "Mr. Mayor"
This was on my time hop app on Friday. Look at all those babies (including our Mayor). I remember that day so clearly. We (Judson, the kids and I) served over 600 free hot dogs to the community. I remember the kids thinking Justin was so famous and important as a news anchor. Well, look at him/them now.
Ally and her TOTAL Leadership group had an "interview" with our Mayor of Covington, Justin Hanson, this morning. It was early on a nasty Saturday morning. I was proud of these teens as well as flattered that Justin made the time to spend with them talking about the future of our small town.

Dear Family that I LOVE so much...it is time to go back to work and school!!!
These are just the foods that I took pictures of...I think I have gained 10 pounds this week. The kids were out of school ALL WEEK for an "ice storm". Wow!!! I haven't been to the gym one time. It is TIME for us all to get back on a routine....sleeping, eating, working, studying, etc. It has been fun though just being here with the kiddos. It's nice to slow down and just "be at home" sometimes. That's usually when the best times are had and the best memories are made.

Re-Entry to the Real World
Let me preface this by saying that Judson and I are so fortunate in that we get to take lots of fun trips to many different places. However, it seems that more times than not we always come back home to a firestorm. I guess that is just part of owning your own business.
When we woke up in New Orleans on Sunday morning, our phones were blowing up about the winter weather predictions for home. This is a good thing in the grocery business-snow threats can really make a difference to your bottom line. So, Judson and I were on the phones talking to each of the stores about preparations and things to handle before we could get home.
When we landed in Memphis around noon, the "vacation" was O. V. E. R. Our phones started exploding, we had a flat tire on his truck, the kids were calling, etc.
This was our last peaceful pic as the plane was landing.
I clicked on Instagram while we were waiting on help with the flat tire and this is the first thing I see...oh me, wow! So, I get on the phone and have my managers assure me that this will not be us!
Just to be sure, I had them text me a picture. And....the stress begins. Welcome home!

Lady Rebels and Locker Rooms
Basketball season - regular season- has come to an end and the playoffs start tonight. I used my "new crafty skills" haha to make all of the girls a little happy. When I picked Oney up at 3, he and I snuck into the locker room and placed one in each of the girls lockers.
Ally's Locker
Abby's Locker
We played St. Mary's in our first playoff game. We played so hard and should have beaten them. Ally wanted it so bad. I hated it for her. She is seen standing here going head to head with one of their star players. This girl was amazing. Her name is Kaylan Pugh and she has signed to play with Ohio State. WOW! Proud of my girl for giving her a run for her money.

Valentine's Day
Working on presentation of our chocolate covered strawberries for the store this week.
Of course, we had to have a taste test, too! They were DELICIOUS! I always love the ones with the long stems. I think they are so sweet!
I don't know why I am always caught off guard every year on Valentine's Day, but I am. Tony, from our meat department, who has worked at Naifeh's for as long as I can remember, always spoils me. He started this tradition one year when Judson was out of town on Valentine's Day. He always buys me a dozen of red roses!!! I mean really?! We have the BEST employees...most of them...they are more like family and friends than employees. THANKS to Tony for making my week!

Ballin' Braids
So, I received my email today from Twitter that I get once a week or so, "Popular in your network". LOOK who it is...my one and only "Ally" aka "AlBron" aka "ALshantay"!!!
She let Ms Stacy's daughter braid her hair at school. How hilarious are these tweets/pictures? This girl LOVES her some basketball.
