Ducks for Days

Jud has been all in to Duck Hunting as much as possible this week before the season ends. After he hunted this morning, I drove out to Giltedge Cafe and met him for lunch. WOW! Talk about driving down memory lane. I don't ever go to Burlison anymore. Driving down highway 59 west brought back all kinds of memories. Boy time flies.

Juvenile Deer Hunt

Opening weekend of deer season for juveniles started out with a bang! Abby and Judson went together and Oney and I went together. We should have cut more corn rows because that field could have been full of deer and we would have never seen them.

When Oney and I are not killing deer, we are making crazy faces and taking selfies with each other.

He got him a double doe

These two sillies only got bonding time and a million selfies and snapchats!

This popped up on my time hop this week...this was the first year we started hunting as a family. WOW! Time flies by so fast!

Happy Birthday to Me and Judson!

How amazing is this new addition to our dining room table? We have found a few of these sheds at the farm as well as the little 6 point deer I killed this year. Patricia Howard made the pottery piece to tie it all together. This picture really doesn't do it justice.

Thanks to my wonderful Mother in Law (and Father in Law) for a really special gift this year!

Dad was Right...

Well, "Dad" was right...

Ally and Abby used to be such dedicated, excited, competitive deer hunters. That is, until a couple of years ago. They decided they would rather have those extra hours of beauty sleep (not that they need it) than the biggest deer on the wall!

Judson has said several times, maybe one day they will have a boyfriend that likes to hunt. I bet they will regain a sudden interest in hunting. Well guess what??? Abby all of a sudden wanted to go to the deer stand the last weekend of the season! Hmmmm....suspicious, hey?!?!

She and Hayden went to his farm. They didn't kill anything but they did see a couple of coyotes. They were pretty cute in their camo weren't they?

Dad was right...

Deer Stand Selfies & Snapchats

Will these be my good luck charm today? My new pink Browning gun case or "purse" as Judson likes to call it and my new Pink Yeti Cooler! Let's hope so...

The pics we pass around from the deer stand...hopefully there will be a deer post later. The girls are in their nice warm and cozy beds...they have retired their rifles for now.

Out with a Bang

And duck season went out with a bang...pretty much as unsuccessful as our deer season this year. Well, maybe not quite that bad. Judson did get a few ducks.

He went to Stuttgart for closing weekend. Didn't kill many ducks, but I am sure he killed quite a few brain cells with all the red wine that group drinks! The picture above is at Mack's. He had one of the guys take this picture so he could send it to the kids! He is such a kid himself. I wish I could be as easy going and happy go lucky as he is and not so uptight. I am just not wired that way.

As always, he had a great time with the guys. Me and the kids always enjoy a "lazy" weekend without Dad every now and then, too! We are always glad to have him back after a night or two!

Squirrels, Rabbits & Rats

Judson and Poncho snuck out of the office one afternoon and went to the farm for a little stress relief! Poncho has been trying to get Judson to go rabbit hunting with him for some time. Judson finally did and boy did he have fun. Judson really enjoys Poncho. He is the kindest, most polite, gentleman. He has been a great friend for Judson. He is a very unselfish person...those friends are sure hard to come by in this world!

Their kill for the day consisted of ...

over 30 squirrels

2 rabbits

and a tree rat!

How funny is that???

Ducks and Dudes

The Annual Sanderson Farms father-son duck hunt is finally here! Oney has been talking about going since last year. Last year was his first year to attend. Boy, did he have a good time! Here is my man, the proud killer of a beautiful duck! This one will be mounted for sure.

Here is the silly side working the camera...

Not bad boys...

The Dads took the boys to shoot clay targets one afternoon...

Game face on and ready to kill!

Uh oh-who is in charge of this group anyway? Man down.

Oney was a little young for some of the "campfire" talk last year. He had high hopes of getting to stick around for it this year. This sign was hanging up at the cabin when they got there. Don't worry, the boys found a way around it. The sign didn't stipulate whether or not to measure from the left or the right. Boys will be boys.

A trip to Mack's is always a necessity.

Oney snapped this of Judson trying to catch an afternoon nap. The "old men" can't keep up with the young boys anymore.

How HANDSOME are these men? I LOVE this picture. You can tell they are really enjoying themselves. What an awesome tradition for them to look forward to each year.

I snatched this picture off of Oney's cell phone. For some reason, he chose not to text me this one. Boys.

The sign hanging above the urinals.

The burger from the burger joint pictured below.

Their last night at duck camp until next year. Oney hit a brick wall concrete floor, literally! He was EXHAUSTED. He was really asleep in the middle of the floor.

THANKS Sanderson Family for being so generous and entertaining my family. They will treasure their Duck Camp Stories for a lifetime.
