Father's Day at Pickwick...A Naifeh Family Tradition

Happy Father's Day...Daddy! You are the BEST!

As tradition goes, we spend every Father's Day weekend at the Lake with the Naifeh family.  This year, we downscaled a little bit and it was just the "Joe Naifeh Family" that came. We always have my family in town, too!  It was a nice weekend, in spite of the not so nice weather. It was "iffy" most of the weekend, but of course, we made the best of it.  Sittie and Jidi came out on the Lake with us as did Aunt Jan! Ginny and Pop didn't make it out with us. These pictures were taken before the first rain shower...CUTE pics...huh???

They were both GREAT sports and EAGER to be the youngest most active "old folks' on the Lake.  I do not have everyone's pictures yet, but Sittie rode the innertube!!! Here is a picture of Jidi riding the SeaDoo with Ally. He said she was the best, most responsible driver. We are not sure who she gets that from....hmmm.

Right after this picture was taken, all Hell broke loose on the water.  Pardon my French, but it was HORRIBLE! I have NEVER seen the waves white cap like they did-we felt like we were in the middle of the ocean.  I had to ride the SeaDoo back from the Rope Swing Cove to Winn Springs! Whew...what a ride I had...the pictures do not do it justice at all!

I was soooo sore the next morning. I felt like I had been riding a horse for weeks.  We went in to the house, rested for about an hour, and then headed back out for what ended up being a fabulous late afternoon on the Lake!

We had burgers at our house that night for dinner. The kids played around the neighborhood and rode the golf cart. It was a nice evening. It was Aunt Jan's turn to stay with us, and the kids were excited to have her there!
Sunday morning we got out on the water early to do water sports. Poor, poor Daddy had to stay at the house. He grilled ribs for everyone for Father's Day Lunch.  We missed him out on the water, but boy were his ribs delicious!  Sunday became the day for...

We have one S I N G L E or should I say...

...S L O L E M ...

Abby is doing AWESOME in her skiing already this year! She has mastered skiing on two skis, and is now tackling skiing slolem! Her Daddy and I are so very proud of her! She has the determination to do anything her heart desires! Here are some other miscellaneous pictures from the weekend.

My Oney has also (out of nowhere) decided to master skiing on two and try to get up on one ski! I am so proud of him for finally overcoming his fears and going after something on his own.  He also got brave in this first picture, and reached out and grabbed a tree skiing down the Tom Bigby Waterway!

Mom playing around and trying to "keep up" with the kddos!

R. I. P. Anchor
I am going to end my post with this sad moment. Daddy lost his anchor (not the one pictured) last week. It was the same anchor that we have owned since we have been in Pickwick from the beginning. He is still in mourning I believe. He hasn't been able to find that EXACT one yet, so we have been improvising. Today we used the SeaDoo anchor (pictured above). Of course, his friends had a great ttime with that after he bragged to them for all of these years about being "well-hung".
Another wonderful weekend with friends and family making memories for life! Thank you Lord for all of the blessings in my life. I do not deserve them but I sure do love having them!

Lost and Found...Friends That Is...

I know I am a little late posting this but, I mentioned in my last post that I would wrap up our weekend at the Lake last week with more details. Well, after we had the kids friends up, it was nice just relaxing with our family of five. We ended up with a nice surprise to wrap up our weekend...some long, lost friends...Kerry and Brad. They took a ride on our SeaDoo together and nobody got hurt! We have been running on different paths this Spring/Summer and haven't seen them very much so it was nice to have some down time to catch up! Since our kiddos do not play softball and theirs live, eat and breathe it...we have not been able to make time for each other.  The kids enjoyed each other, too.

My Sister and I also enjoyed riding our SeaDoos together on Sunday. We were at J.P. Coleman for the afternoon on Sunday. It is typically nice there with not as much boat traffic.  I also skied...yep, I can still do it at 38 years old. It may not be pretty but i did it:)

I took this picture of Oney and Judson. They were playing around and wrestling with each other. Right after this picture, Judson pulled Oney's swim trunks down...it was pretty funny! Yes, I caught the picture, but I am not going to post it...Oney might not like it if I did!
I like this picture that I took of Ally riding the SeaDoo. She did GREAT riding it in that afternoon.
I love this picture of Abby. I bought her this towel and of course, she LOVED it!

Good weekend with family and friends. We are so fortunate to have our Lake House. It was maybe the SINGLE BEST INVESTMENT we have made in our family.  We have had so many wonderful times at the Lake and look forward to so many more.

Pickwick with Kids Friends

The kids have been planning to take friends to the Lake for a weekend this Summer. Believe it or not, the weekends that are free are already becoming scarce. So, we decided to do it early so that we didn't miss out on it.  Ally struck out with her friends - they all either had softball, camp, vacation or something going on.  Abby took Joze and Grace - her others were also busy. Oney took Jeb with him.

We got there Thursday late afternoon and went to the pool in our neighborhood.  They swam until they were shriveled up! Judson went through Jackson to pick Ally up at camp and they met us at the Lake.  For dinner, we went to Pickwick Pizza.  This has become one of the kids favorite places.  They like to play volleyball or some of their other outdoor games.  They especially love the smores for dessert!

Friday, we spent ALL day on the Lake! The kids friends didn't know how to ski...well, they do now!  We got all three of them up on skis.  It was so much fun seeing their reactions/expressions.  Judson did a great job pulling them.

The New Skiers...
Ally and Max opted to ride Sea Doos instead!

The experienced ones...

Ally and Britt...Good Times!

Judson took the boys on "the ride of their life" and that is all I will say about that!

We went back to the house and cooked out Friday night.  The kids were all exhausted and we all slept good.  My Mother, Ginny, was kind enough to drive all of the kids back to Covington Saturday mid-morning. It was the perfect amount of time for a visit. We then had the house to our self for Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday.  I will do a separate post about that later.
