HAPPY New Year!

This New Year's Eve was different from any other. Several factors played into us having a low key night at home in Covington. We invited a handful of couples over to the house last minute to watch football and just relax. It was a PERFECT night.

I stole this photo from Kate's instagram page. We actually played a game (can't remember the name) that was a LOT of fun! Abby had several of her friends over and I got to feed them (I LOVE having the kids friends over)! What more can you ask for?

We couldn't ring in the New Year without a bottle of champagne?
The last dish was done and these two were debating on who was taking out the trash! Good night!

Brokenhearted

Your Refuge and Strength

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
—Psalm 46:1 (NLT)

There is so much bad news in the world. Just watching the evening news can be like seeing a horror movie. There are reports of murders, terrorists, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes. If you focus all on those dangers and forget I am taking care of you, fear will creep into your mind.

Remember: I am your Refuge and Strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. You don’t have to be afraid of anything, because I am in control. Every day, I pour out My grace in countless places and situations. I shower blessings on your planet—and even many miracles—but the evening news doesn’t report these things.

Don’t focus on all the bad news; focus on Me. See My Presence all around you, and remember that I am your Refuge.

Brevity Of Life

Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. (NLT) ( Psalm 90:12 )

It's easy to push aside the knowledge that life is short. That is, until we hear of a loved one who passes. When we really come to value our life, it becomes less important to have additional time and more important to have quality time. We grow in wisdom with our choices of how we spend our time. Let's stay sensitive to how we spend our time, where we spend our time, and with whom we spend our time.

Judson and I were so fortunate to get to know Lauren through our many basketball and volleyball sleepovers and events. She was ALWAYS a joy to have around! My girls are brokenhearted. Our entire family is grieving with the Moody's tonight. I just can't imagine the pain Dana, Joey, JT and Matt are experiencing.  We will continue to pray for this sweet family. God will take care of them.

50 Years of Marital Bliss

Congratulations to Sandra and Joe on their 50th Wedding Anniversary! WOW! What an accomplishment, especially in todays society. They are the sweetest couple ever. We started off their celebration with a special bottle of champagne...everyone had a "sip"!

I love their faces here...hilarious! You know its going to be good when it has that much fizz!

Sandra made us (with the help of Sandra at Walgreens) a precious photo album of their wedding pictures. We all LOVED it!

 Lots of bubbles...
 Sweet toasts

 ALL GONE?!

Everyone was their BUT Ally, who was at basketball camp at the beach. We really missed her...this was her empty seat at the table:-)
Jidi's gift to Sittie...a gorgeous cross!

And NO POST about Sittie would be complete without a photo of her dessert! What a fun night celebrating two really wonderful and special people! We love you!

Ducks or Deer?

My view from the deer stand ...

Jud's view from the duck hole...

Those damn white trucks that ALWAYS drive by the indian mound stand and STOP and STARE!

I love to deer hunt and Jud loves to duck hunt. I think he has the prettier view though.

Look at this cute Gingerbread House the 2nd graders at TRA made this Christmas. They made Gingerbread Communities and skipped with other schools. Thanks for including us kiddos!

#TeamLauren

As the basketball teams at TRA compete in a tournament over Christmas break, their hearts are all somewhere else this year. Lauren Moody is battling for her life. We got word on Christmas morning that she had been rushed to St. Jude and was critical. It really put things into perspective for me and my family this Christmas-we prayed for her throughout the day and shed many tears for her and her family. My family has been so blessed in so many ways and I just can't help but feel nothing but grateful this year. Continuing to PRAY.

No More Brace Face

All Oney wanted for Christmas was to get his braces off of his teeth! So, guess what? Dr. Werner had been teasing him for several months about taking them off. I nudged him a little and off they came! I didn't tell Oney where we were going until the morning of...he was SO EXCITED to say the least. Merry Christmas to him!

Moms and Misfitz

So, Ally has a new group of friends that have become inseparable. They are all VERY different in many ways. Some go to Munford, some Rosemark, some Belmont, juniors, seniors, freshmen, tall short, ballers, cheerleaders, scholars, jokesters...they have labeled themselves the "Misfitz" for obvious reasons. They are a sweet group of girls. I am just glad to see her out and about doing many different things and expanding her horizons of friends. You can never have too many friends that is for sure.

The kids decided the Moms needed to get to know each other. They were having a footed pajama Christmas party and decided they would include us Moms. Of course the moms were honored to spend a Saturday night with their daughters! One catch, we had to wear our footed pajamas. I didn't own a pair but Ally was kind enough to go buy us a MATCHING pair! That was a big deal to me...Ally wanted to match me?! Ha!
